Our proofreading and copyediting services include the following:

Our substantive editing services include but are not limited to the following:

• Creative Prose (short stories, flash fiction, creative nonfiction)

For business documents, marketing materials, and website copy, we charge by the hour ($40.00/hour).

For some types of documents and specific kinds of editing, we may offer per-page rates. For proofreading of essays, creative prose, and poetry, Write Out’s rate is $3.50 per double-spaced page (averaged at 250 words). For basic copyediting of the aforementioned documents, Write Out’s rate is $5.00 per double-spaced page (250 words). For more complex copyediting of the aforementioned documents, we charge $7.00 per double-spaced page (250 words). For heavy copyediting of the aforementioned documents, often including complex ESL editing, we charge $10.00 per double-spaced page (250 words). If you aren’t sure what level of editing your text requires, you can visit the Editors’ Association of Canada’s webpage “Definitions of Editorial Skills” or ask us.

Please include a 1.5-2 page sample in your initial quote request for an accurate estimate. We ask that you send it in a Microsoft Word document (either .doc or .docx).

Write Out may charge a rush fee for documents over 1,000 words sent with under 24 hours’ notice prior to the deadline OR sent between Friday at noon and Sunday evening when the deadline would necessitate work done over the weekend. Documents under 1,000 words will only be subject to a rush fee on holidays. Any such charges will be included in the quote and explained prior to any expectation of payment.
